At Norfolk House, we are deeply committed to preparing your child for their transition to senior school. In this section, we provide detailed information on how we support our pupils in preparing for their 11+ exams in Year 6, along with showcasing the diverse range of schools our Year 6 students choose to attend.

Preparing our pupils

As children progress through the school, they are given increasing responsibilities and encouraged to build their self-confidence, ensuring a smooth transition to senior school. We maintain our focus on providing a broad and balanced education, allowing children to enjoy their learning while also preparing them for the crucial senior school entrance exams in Year 6.

Our approach to 11+ preparation is gradual and supportive, with a strong emphasis on understanding each child as an individual. Rather than relying on constant cramming and coaching, we teach children how to apply their knowledge effectively and develop strong exam techniques through exposure to a range of practice papers. Our goal is to nurture confident, happy young learners who are well-equipped to thrive in whichever senior school they move on to.

Teachers meet personally with parents to discuss this important next step, considering every aspect of potential schools, from academic achievement to size, location, and culture.

We are incredibly proud to share that our Year 6 cohort of 25 pupils received an outstanding 68 offers from 25 different schools. Even more impressively, they were awarded a remarkable 16 scholarships!
