Year 1

In Form 1, children transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to the National Curriculum, moving from a play-based learning approach to a more structured and formal educational experience.

We ensure this transition is smooth and supportive, carefully blending familiar elements of play with new, more focused activities. This approach helps children adjust to their evolving learning environment while nurturing a love for learning and developing key skills.

Subjects covered include:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • French
  • Music
  • Art
  • Humanities
  • PE and Games
  • Religious Education (RE)
  • Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE)
  • IT and Computing

Children benefit from specialist instruction in French, PE, music, and drama, enriching their learning experience and fostering the development of their individual talents. Additionally, weekly ice-skating lessons at Alexandra Palace enhance their physical education and personal growth, as well as, multi skills, ball skills and swimming.

Our dedicated teachers provide personalised support, ensuring each child transitions confidently and successfully into this next stage of their educational journey.
