Beyond the Classroom

At Norfolk House, we believe in providing opportunities for learning and development which extend beyond the classroom: Our broad sport offering develops skills, confidence and an understanding of team cooperation; regular trips and outings, which relate to current topics being studied, supplement and enhance the curriculum; and our varied extra-curricular offering provides pupils with opportunities to explore new talents and interests.

Extra curricular activities

School should be a fulfilling experience for all pupils. Here at Norfolk House we provide our students with a rich curriculum outside the classroom as well as in it.

All pupils enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular clubs before, during and after school. Clubs range from chess, cross country, newspaper, art and pottery, drama, cooking and many more.

Visits and outings

Learning outside the classroom is integral to our pupils’ wider development and experience. We ensure that our pupils have at least one off site visit per term to supplement and enhance the curriculum. Our trips include: Residential visits for older pupils (from Form 4 onwards), Hampton Court, Houses of Parliament, River Cruise on the Thames, Environmental Centres, British Museum, The Science Museum, London Zoo, local places of worship.

Residential trips

Pupils from Form 4 onwards enjoy the opportunity to go on residential trips. This is a two night stay for just Form 4 pupils, usually to an out of bounds adventure such as PGL, whilst Forms 5 and 6 enjoy a four night trip together either to France (alternate years) or to an out of bounds adventure such as Bushcraft in Oxfordshire.

As well as providing pupils with learning experiences outside of the classroom, these trips develop interpersonal skills, including leadership, teamwork, trust and respect, whilst fostering independence among the pupils.
